We will reopen April 24, 2021 under special operating restrictions. Please see our new rules and procedures for safe operations below.

Open every day of the year, except for Christmas Day, the Griffith Park Train Rides are one of Los Angeles's most fun and affordable family attractions.

At Griffith Park and Southern Railroad you travel over one mile of track, across a bridge, through a forest and the Old Western Town. You can also try our classic simulator ride Kid Coaster - fun for all ages.

At Travel Town Railroad, you travel around the Travel Town Museum two times. After riding our miniature train, you can explore dozens of old time railroad locomotives and cars.

Safe Operating Procedures effective April 16, 2021

1.      All guests over the age of 2 years will be required to wear a mask or a face shield with a neck drape. There will be no exceptions. We will supply disposable masks for guests who forget to bring their own.

2.      We must ask that you supervise your children with your household group and not allow them to mingle with other guests. Children get excited and can forget the social distancing rules.

3.      No guest who has Covid symptoms such as cough, chills, fever may enter the loading platform area.

4.      No guest who has been exposed to someone with Covid 19 within the past 14 days may enter the loading platform area.

5.      We have partitioned the train coaches into socially distanced seating areas with plexiglass shields. Each seating area can hold up to 4-5 members of the same household. Households may not mix in the seating areas. Therefore, seating on each train is restricted to an average of 30 passengers per trip.

6.      The simulator ride will hold only one household group at a time from 1 to 6 people.

7.      It is possible that we will reach safe operating capacity on some weekend days. We cannot know in advance and have no way to notify you. On a nice day, arrive early to avoid disappointment.

8.      We are unable to sell timed tickets so guests will have to wait in a socially distanced line both to buy tickets and to load on the train. On busy days it may take twice as long waiting in line to board the train. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience.

9.      We encourage you to use contactless payment methods where feasible. We will still accept cash as necessary. However, we can no longer accept checks for payment.

10.  We will have hand sanitizer in boarding and exiting areas for your use.

11.  High touch areas of the train coaches and simulator will be sanitized between each ride. This will create a slight delay for boarding.

12.  Other areas of the public loading platform will be sanitized hourly but we suggest that you avoid handling or touching gates, fences and décor in the area.

13.  We ask that you respect social distancing with our employees and that you cooperate with their directions while assigning you to seating.

14.  If you have mobility issues we will allow you adequate time to load and unload. Unfortunately, for their safety, our employees cannot assist with those tasks.

15.  Until further notice we cannot allow children to sit in the locomotive for photos or any other reasons.
